In India, traditionally, a caterer has been a person who provides a team of halwai and karigars that are skilled experts of their regional cuisine, and are primarily tasked with the responsibilities of cooking for large feasts.  These caterers, are mostly a hawai themselffor whom catering has been a family profession for centuries.

Though the traditional definition of a caterer, still holds well for rural India .The same is not completely true for the urban areas. With time, the role of a caterer has undergone a serious transition–a change which is especially crystal clear in the metropolitans of northern India.

In most metropolitans, the term “caterer” is now synonymous with a professional service firm, which specializes in the art of crafting a memorable culinary experience at events. The professional catering companies in India today consist of a team of professional chefs, food and beverage consultants, well-groomed service staff, decor directors, and food stylists, under the management of a well-structured administration.

The focus has now shifted beyond the primitive goal of delivering food that tasted good. The focus is now on creating a feast for your senses–an experience that goes way beyond just feeding your appetite. A sublime experience that touches your soul, and is etched in your memories for years to come.

This is a tricky question. The reason being that contrary to what you might think, there are major differences on how different caterers will cater the same menu. When it comes to pricing, a lot depends on your expectations regarding the level of quality, presentation and professionalism that you’d like to ensure. For a better understanding read the answer to question 4 below.

At KK Caterers our wedding catering menu in Lucknow starts at Rs. 500 per plate. A basic wedding menu in Lucknow that has 6-8 starters, a few essential live counters like: chaat, chinese, beverages, and a limited variety of main course along with a couple of desserts will cost you about Rs. 600 per plate for a gathering of 500 people. This is the sort of pricing you can expect from the mid-budget caterers in the market.

The per plate cost for the catering will go up as you increase the variety in the menu or the quality of crockery and presentation that you require. The per plate catering cost will also increase sharply as you decrease the guest count at your event.

A luxurious wedding menu that has a variety of International Live Counters like; Japanese, Korean, Thai, Mongolian, Mediterranean, Turkish , Lebanese, Italian, Swiss, French cuisine, along with exciting regional cuisine options, like: Rajasthani, Punjabi, South Indian, Mughlai, and fusion cuisine options, with an aesthetic and ornate catering decor setup, premium crockery and bar setup, paired with innovative service options will cost you somewhere around Rs.3000 for a gathering of 600-700.

Ensuring a memorable catering experience is perhaps the most important thing you need to do in order to have a great party. And as a caterer we know that besides selecting a professional and quality and innovation driven catering company like KK Caterers, what plays a major role is the menu that you finalize for your event.

At KK Caterers, we take two distinct approaches—depending on your needs—to aid you in this culinary quandary of finalizing your menu:

1. The first approach is the one that we use for more than 90% of the event enquiries. We send the client a few sample menus that fall in different price bands, and then ask the client which of the menus are closest to what they had in mind. After that we have a couple of discussion rounds with the client to gauge their expectations for tweaking and adjusting the menu so that it becomes a perfect fit for their event. By doing this, we are mostly able to arrive at a menu which best serves their expectations.

2. The second approach is more of a tailor made approach to menu designing. We start from scratch taking the client’s insights at each step. Due to the extensive efforts that are needed in this approach—both from our consultants and the client—we reserve this approach only for specific cases. We use it when the client is either planning for a very elaborate event and has a well-defined budget, or in cases where the client is planning for an event that’s different from events that we normally cater—a French inspired gala dinner, a Japanese cocktail party, or a carnival themed birthday brunch—and already has a vague idea of what he wants.

Catering services aren’t exactly a homogenized good. As every caterer has a different team, quality standards, work methodology, reputation, aim, cost structure and target market, there will be a considerable variation in prices across the market. What this means is that you can easily find caterers who cater the same menu for strikingly different prices.

We know there are caterers who will offer you to cater our menus at a cheaper price–and to this we say: “Sorry, but we can’t match their prices, and we never intended to either.” We don’t compete in the market by offering the cheapest prices. While we do put an extensive focus on affordability, our primary focus is on delivering a quality-driven catering experience by using standardized raw materials, professional staff and ensuring good presentation and focus on aesthetics.

We’re happy to say that our business has been running good at the pricing we work at. We are mostly fully booked during the wedding season, and our customers are always delighted after experiencing our services, praising how value for money our services are. And to our satisfaction we are able to adhere to the quality and work standards which we’d like to ensure.

So if you know another caterer who you believe can cater your event at a comparable level of taste, quality, and presentation, and at a cheaper price then you’d be wasting your time talking to us. Further, our wishes are with you, may your event be a successful one!

There is no ideal or best time to book a caterer, you should book one as soon as you finalize the date and venue for your event. For certain especially auspicious wedding dates we get booked out as long as a year before the event.

Most reputed caterers are quite busy during the peak wedding season—which is usually the period between Nov-Feb and April-May—so if you are planning for an event in this period, then you need to ensure that you book a caterer at least 6 months before the event, and from our experience even that long wouldn’t guarantee that you’d be able to get the caterer of your choice. We normally get most of our Nov-Dec bookings in the month of Jan-Mar, which is about 9 months before the event.

It depends. Being an on-site caterer we prepare all our food fresh at the event venue, so we offer tasting only at our event venues. Doing this poses a difficulty, that is, we can’t invite you for a tasting at a private or intimate event with limited audience, and we can’t invite you to an event that falls in a price range that is completely different what you’re planning.

If we have an event that’s similar to what you’re planning, and if it’s feasible for us to offer you tasting at that event, then we’ll surely invite you for a tasting.

The final quotation that we provide you prior to the booking, details the estimated total cost for the catering services at your event. At the time of booking, the booking will only be considered confirmed if a payment equivalent to 20% of the quoted estimated total cost is paid as a booking amount.

50% of the estimated total cost will need to be paid at least 30 days prior to the event, and 10% of the amount will be payable a week prior to the event. The balance revised actual cost will have to be paid within a week after the event date.

Yes, we have a detailed set of legally binding terms and conditions that you should ideally read through before booking us for your event.

LED Counter is an industry jargon for designer tables that are used in catering. They have a very pronounced effect on the catering presentation, and your event decor. As the name suggest an LED counter mostly has lighting within them but they are much more than that.

LED counters come with a wide range of decor props and accessories that help arrange the catering in a very presentable and aesthetic manner. Additionally, we at KK Caterers have a wide range of LED counters for different budget range which we pick in order to supplement your event decor.
